We’ve been hearing from folks for more than a year, asking when Tricia Brown’s biography of Irene Sherman will be released. Well, the good news is, we have a date! The Fairbanks Community & Dog Mushing Museum will host the book launch event for “The Queen of Fairbanks” on Sat., May 25, from noon to 5:00 p.m. The museum is located at 535 2nd Avenue in Fairbanks, upstairs in the Co-Op Plaza. But we’re going to make it easy for those of you who dislike stairs for whatever reason.
The signing table will be set up on the lobby level, and we’re bringing a ton of books for Tricia to sign and personalize. We’ll have snacks, too. A portion of all book sales at the Museum will be donated to the Irene Sherman Project for installation of her statue in a prominent place downtown. We hope you’ll support the effort through buying books, or just clicking on the DONATE NOW tab and giving today!

We’re currently setting up a plan for fulfilling mail-order copies. But we’ll let you know as soon as it’s set. Additional signing locations are in the works in the coming months, too, including the Pioneer Museum in Pioneer Park, Forget-Me-Not Books, the UA Museum, UAF Campus during the Nanook Reunion, and later this summer, at the newly renovated Noel Wien Library. On July 20, during Golden Days, Tricia will be signing this book and her others at the Street Fair. Look for her on Golden Heart Plaza. She’s also been invited to several venues in Anchorage.
“The Queen of Fairbanks” is 304 pages long and packed with historical Fairbanks photos and lots of Irene’s long and mysterious life story. Some of Alaska’s best-known writers have offered praise for the new release. And we’re proud of the outcome!
